The Infamous Geraldine - Sweet Sounds of Chameleon
This is it! The original bass that graced the 1st Headhunter's Album. Paul recorded Chameleon with Geraldine. Four Channels of unique never-to-be-replaced sound. Geraldine started as a Fender Telecaster bass (vintage 52-62 we are still trying to determine the date.) . At Paul's request, her psychedelic finish was stipped and she was worked on by Stars Guitars and the estemed Luthier Hideo Kamimoto. The top pickup is mono - but the lower pickup is 4 channels, one for each string. Fred Catero, engineer of the Headhunters first album took each strings output and mixed them to center to create the unique sound you hear on that timeless album. It is reported that Marcus Miller wanted to steal her but she is stashed safely away in an undisclosed location -- though we are not saying where.
The thing is, now that Paul has so many basses to play, it is possible that he might entertain the possibility of letting someone else enjoy playing her. If you are interested, contact Paul - via tha Contact page.
